don't judge a book by its a cover

confession::: i have awful taste in books. i'm not really into the whole classic book that your father and everybody you've ever known has also read. naw, i'm into the books that although they may be at the top of new york times bestsellers list, it was the housewives in suburban america that got them there. and that, my friends, should speak volumes.

i don't think i'm giving the authors very much credit though.
there is clearly a reason they are at the top of every list... because once you pick them up, you can't put them down. they captivate your attention and won't let go until you've read every last word through page 211. it is then that you realize its two o'clock in the morning and you have to get up for work in the morning. and then, when you wake up for work, you can't wait until your lunch break because that is when you can finally read again.

and then lunch comes, and you are suddenly too embarrassed to take out your book and read it in front of your colleagues, for fear that someone will judge you by the cover of your book.

(i just read the manny by holly peterson. i cannot recommend it enough.)
(that is, if you like that sort of thing)
